Proofreader Description: Job Responsibilities: Responsible for checking all marketing materials of spelling, grammar, punctuation, point size, text style, accuracy, spacing and formatting are correct and consistent.
Ensures style and branding guidelines are adhered to.
Proactively researches all copy, questioning the slightest detail that could potentially be misunderstood by the consumer audience.
Ensures all necessary information and legal disclaimers are present and correct.
Demonstrates concern for the clients' ad content and seeks to understand the message behind the verbiage. Questions anything that may not be clear or apparent to the intended consumer.
Works within our creative management system(s) (Workfront).
Conducts proofreading with online, digital and video assests and annotates proofreading comments.
Utilizes approval's system (formerly ProofHQ) for reading and annotating work when appropriate.
Requirements: Bachelor of Arts degree in English.
Minimum of 6+ years of experience in advertising/marketing proofreading.
Experience with project management (for example: planning, organizing, and managing resources to bring about the successful completion of specific project goals and objectives).
Intermediate level skill in Microsoft PowerPoint (for example: applying a theme, formatting character spacing, inserting a picture, changing slide layout and theme colors, adding transitions, customizing slide numbers, changing chart style and/or formatting font).
Intermediate level skill in Microsoft Word (for example: inserting headers, page breaks, page numbers and tables and/or adjusting table columns).
Experience developing and delivering presentations to various audience levels within an organization.
Experience translating from English to Spanish and from Spanish to English in marketing for a variety of marketing vehicles.
Experience translating from English to Spanish and Spanish to English in print, broadcast, direct mail, Web and presentations.
Able to independently interpret nuances of the English copy in order to write Spanish copy that captures the essence of the messaging and the client tone of voice in a culturally appropriate manner for a variety of audiences.
Experience speaking, reading and writing fluently in Spanish.
Advanced knowledge of language rules in Spanish.
Experience communicating both verbally (on phone, one-on-one, to groups) and in writing (emails, letters, reports, presentations) to various audiences (work group, team, company management, prospective acquisitions, external clients).
Advanced level skill in Adobe software (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator)
Experience speaking, reading and writing fluently in English.
Advanced knowledge of language rules in English.
Tolerant of both people and process keeping broader business goals in mind.
Experience producing accurate and detail-oriented work.
Able to handle pressure due to tight deadlines.
