Job Description
Our client in Hickory NC is seeking a Principal R&D Chemist/Scientist to join the team
Duties:
* Research, propose, and develop new products and projects to drive organic growth for the company, with guidance from senior R&D staff or R&D management.
* Recommend, plan, execute, and analyze experiments (lab and/or production scale), and evaluate results based on management input.
* Prepare required reports and project presentations as directed.
* Adhere to all company Design Control Procedures, Safety Policies, Environmental Policies, and other relevant facility requirements.
* Collaborate and support team members across the company as needed to achieve project goals.
* Participate in all team meetings related to assigned projects.
* Organize and lead additional meetings as necessary to ensure project success.
* Provide technical support to Marketing, Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing, and other Product Development teams as needed.
* Engage with customers, sales, technical service, quality control, production, and/or suppliers as required.
* Recommend relevant external meetings and conferences.
* Participate in training for professional development.
* Conduct literature searches, including technical papers, patents, and other relevant sources.
* Occasional travel may be required.
Job Requirements
Requirements:
* Master"s or Ph.D. in Chemistry, Materials Science, or related field.
* Over 10 years of industrial experience in chemical or materials science/engineering, including material and process scale-up.
* Proven product development expertise in formulating water-based, solvent-based, and emulsion/dispersions.
* Strong data analysis skills and proficiency in materials analysis techniques (e.g., thermal analysis, FTIR, GC/MS, particle size analysis).
* Experience with thermoplastic and thermoset polymers and composite materials.
* Exceptional communication skills, both written and oral, with proficiency in software like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Minitab.
* Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
* Strong interpersonal skills and experience working with diverse suppliers and customers.
