Summary The Mayor's Office of Community Affairs seeks a dedicated and passionate government service-oriented intern to provide assistance, under direct supervision, on key projects necessary to the furtherance of our goals and will become familiar with the role that the office of Community Affairs plays in service delivery of the executive, legislative and policy work.
The Mayor's Office of Community Affairs intern will assist the Executive Director of Community Affairs and assigned supervisors on service delivery issues, management and analysis, and external and internal communication.
This internship will offer the opportunity to gain valuable skills, network, and learn about Macon Bibb County government affairs, regulations, and legislation in the setting best suited to gain rich knowledge of operational techniques.
The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical, writing, investigative, interpersonal, and communicative skills, can multi-task, and work as a team player.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities •Handle logistical elements for program events
•Manage program contacts database
•Aid in tracking the existence and movement of administrative regulations and laws pertaining to civic affairs
•Attend strategy and Commission meetings
•Assist in scheduling meetings with the Office of Community Affairs
•Assist with miscellaneous office tasks and projects as needed
Education, Training and Experience Minimum must be currently registered as a freshman, sophomore, junior or senior enrolled as full-time undergraduate student at a College or University. Must have an interest in government, law, service delivery and legislative affairs. Have social media skills and strong computer skills (Microsoft Office suite, desirable: basic photo editing and resizing skills, understanding of basic html language). Have a good academic background with writing, and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities - Attention to details, excellent time management skills, and organizational skills.
- Experience using Microsoft Office skills
- Ability to work with board range of government and elected officials, as well as members of the public.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Team oriented with ability to work independently.
- Be detail oriented and have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
